My niece Adrienne (Hermana Patton) got home from her mission last week after serving in the Salt Lake City South and West missions speaking Spanish. I asked her to share three things that helped her as she served her mission.
Forget about yourself. Think about how you can make the world a better place each day and stop thinking about how bad you feel for yourself.
Apply the Atonement and the repentance process every day. Repent every day and recognize that with Jesus Christ you can do all things but you can’t do things with your own talents. You need him; you can’t do this on your own.
Laugh as much as possible. One day my companion and I were riding bikes to an intersection. We had this routine where we would speed up if the light was green so we didn’t have to get off our bikes. I yelled “go, go, go” to my companion. When I got to the crosswalk my shoe went flying. I had to go run and get my shoe and then my sock fell off and I went over to her and we were just laughing so hard and we crossed the street and then I fell. I just fell and hit the cement really hard but I popped up and we both were laughing so hard and thinking about what the people in the intersection thought.
Thanks for the good ideas!
