Growing up, I have always told myself that I can do hard things. I say it out loud, I write it down, and I continually share it with others! One of my New Year’s Resolutions has been to listen to Hymns/church music in place of other music for at least one hour every day. Throughout the past few weeks, one song has stood out to me. Jenny Phillips’ song, “In The Strength of the Lord” talks about how we can accomplish anything with the Lord’s help. There is one line that has helped me through trials that have arisen, “He believes I can do hard things!” This testifies to me that I am not the only one that wants me to succeed and you are not the only one that wants you to succeed! Heavenly Father is rooting for you and He believes in you!
An easier way to picture this is by picturing yourself doing something that you are really passionate about. For example, a sport or a musical instrument. Have you ever noticed that when you get down on yourself, your performance level drops a little bit; but when others get down on you (a parent, coach, or teacher), your performance level drops significantly. When we know that people believe in us, we are more likely to believe in ourselves and get through our tasks or trials. Knowing that Heavenly Father believes in you can motivate you to be better.
This does not only apply to sports and music though! Both phrases, “I can do hard things,” and “He believes I can do hard things,” apply to every aspect of our lives! Maybe you, or a friend are having a difficult time and need some reassurance. So, I want you to know that I know that YOU can do hard things and Heavenly Father knows that YOU can do hard things! We are His children, we cannot do things without Him, but through Him, all of us can do hard things, and all of us can endure to the end.
Knowing this, what can you accomplish?
