A few weeks ago I was released from my calling in the Arlington Ward Young Women after two years and a few months of serving as a counselor/Beehive advisor. I have enjoyed getting to know the girls, teaching every few Sundays and attending lots of great Wednesday night activities. Our numbers have dwindled in the last year due to families moving and our ward splitting (from 12 active girls to 3) but all these girls have strong testimonies, a love for each other, and are shining examples.
Some of my favorite things have been:
— visiting Girls Camp and seeing the friendships formed there and hearing their beautiful testimonies
–feeling the spirit as they performed a musical number in Sacrament Meeting
–seeing their excitement at our Sister Missionary panel activity
–watching them serve others
Over the holidays I went on a road trip from Boston to Virginia and stopped at the Philadelphia Temple. I opened the door to the Temple and was surprisingly greeted by Eliza Magland, one of “my young women” when I was the Young Women’s president twenty years ago! I gave her a big hug and it made my day to see her in the Temple. It reminded me that I will always be friends with the girls that I have been blessed to serve with.
