Today’s RubyGirl post is a pure offering from the hands and hearts of the young women who attended the RubyGirl Retreat. As part of the writing retreat that morning, we gave shape to the pieces of our heart as we learned about the power of writing in a journal. Each girl offered one sentence, one piece of light, to contribute to the light gathered here. We started with the words… She is.... and found sweet power when we turned them into … I AM. It was amazing.
You’ll find power in a piece of writing because you’ll feel as if the words belong to you, with a familiarity to your heart. To the amazing girls who contributed, thank you for being brave enough to write. Thank you for being amazing. It was such an honor to write beside you and to watch you REACH new ways of understanding. Blessings your way, Leslie Robbins
She is Amazing
I am a child of light, a daughter of my Heavenly Father.
I am a daughter of God with one big goal.
I am the heir to a divine kingdom, a princess.
I am a sister to my Savior.
I am loved.
I believe life is precious.
I discover joy in every situation.
I am someone who loves to try new things,
I am promising to be true to myself,
to choose what’s right.
I am peaceful when I try to be myself.
I am a tall, blonde, green-eyed adventurer,
someone who believes in being true to yourself.
I believe in words not wars. I believe in magic.
I have discovered there is a beautiful mess
I am a friend, daughter, dancer, helper, storyteller, sister.
I am someone who cares.
I am someone who makes up stories in the night around the campfire
I am a sister before all else.
I discover light between shadows and courage
within myself. I make light, manufacturing it with my heart,
pouring it out of my eyes,
giving it to others with my mouth and hands.
I am a fun, loving, soul who loves to make people laugh,
to make others happy.
I embrace everyone.
I am a lover of beauty, God, laughing, and smiling.
I promise to be happy, to lift others up on my way.
I am a girl who believes everyone deserves to feel loved.
I promise to touch the hearts of those around me,
to help them smile.
I promise to love every soul
and spirit I see,
for they are all children of our Father in Heaven.
I am someone who prays for wisdom, for heartbeats, for patient breaths,
that I am good.
I am an artist who understands
the struggles that happen slowly
through the canvas of life.
I embrace my flaws and strive to make them better.
I am different in a good way.
I try to make every day a challenge,
to become better than I was yesterday.
I pray for humility and courage.
I am growing by doing hard things, growing by strength and love.
I am learning day by day, that I am stronger than I ever imagined.
I am a striver.
I am a warrior.
I am a defender of the family, of womanhood, and motherhood.
I am someone who needs someone to help her.
Every day, I pray for God to help me be the best person I can be.
I am praying for happiness. I am praying for forgiveness.
I believe in forgiveness, from God, from others, from myself.
I believe in miracles, with hope, one day everything will be okay.
My pains will wash away.
I find peace in my Savior and His ability to heal me.
I am reaching for my angels’ hands to help me back up to heaven.
Reaching for home, reaching for Him.
I am reaching up, to God, just like a baby pine tree growing up to God.
I am reaching for the stars and sky.
I am reaching to live in the celestial kingdom with my family.
Reaching to be the best I can be.
I am reaching toward heaven with both hands.
(I’ve included the writing prompt in the image above for those who were unable to attend the retreat. You can RETREAT in your journal and through writing any day, time, and place. You can be amazing through your words.)
