“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31:10
Margaret D. Nadauld gave a beautiful talk in 2000 called “The Joy of Womanhood”. If you would like to read it click here. I really suggest reading it.
One of my favorite things that she says is, “We are taught that every girl was feminine and female in spirit long before her mortal birth.” I really love this, especially now when the world is saying that we can change who we are if we want. We are women. That is our identity. I also really like this quote from her talk:
“Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity.”
I was looking through my Personal Progress book and you could read this talk for one of your goals! It could count for Divine Nature #2. In this value experience you have to read two talks about womanhood, read a few scriptures and try to develop a few attributes.
Let us as daughters of God strive to be a little more tender, kind, refined, faithful, good, virtuous, and pure as Sister Nadauld has said in her talk. Even though this talk is a little old, we can still learn from Sister Nadauld’s word today.
I am grateful to be a daughter of God in this church today. We are very blessed. We are so blessed with the priesthood, and although we do not hold the priesthood we can still receive countless blessings from it. And remember, you are far better than rubies.
Why are you grateful to be a daughter of God?
